đ€Thank you to everyone who came to our first Harvest Festival todayđ€
â„ïžThe team, led by Gemma went above and beyond to create a seasonal atmosphere and worked so hard planning, shopping, cooking and setting up the displays for everyone to enjoy. They clocked up over 50 volunteer hours â€ïžđđ»
đ§ For our fresh display we received donations from New Hill Allotment and our volunteer Pete from his allotment, along with a charitable discount from Fresh and Fruity at Langley Park, and a harvest collection from St Johnâs congregation.
The food everyone shared today was:
đČLoaded veg savoury mince with plain or cheddar dumplings and parley buttered new potatoes
đČChicken, leek and bacon casserole with crispy new potato lid
đČRoot Vegetable Broth with/without ham topping
đœWe served 63 meals and 30 portions to take out. A huge heartfelt thank you to Gemma, Jo-Anne, Dan and Lisa for making sure everyone was fed.
đđ»Thank you to Sarah and Susan from Sacriston Salvation Army, Ally from Langley Moor Salvation Army and Linda our baby group volunteer for organising the activities.
The children enjoyed:
Sourdough plaits
Sweetie boxes
Wooden spoon scarecrows
Bird feeders
Papercraft flowers
Harvest colouring
Organic playdoh
Harvest tuffspot
đđ»Thank you to Rev Michael Peers for leading the service today.
â€ïžAfter the feedback today we have decided to make this an annual event
